When people see the price of our scrubs and compare them to popular brands on social media, they can get the misconception that we skimp on quality. That couldn’t be further from the truth. 

Our family has been in the medical uniform and scrubs business since 2010. When my father first started Dagacci, scrubs were always purchased by the hospitals. Our entire business was direct to the hospital. 

Unfortunately, things changed and hospitals decided that the cost of the work uniform would go onto the healthcare workers, from nurses, medical technicians, physician assistants, fellows, students, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, patient care assistants, transporters, orderlies, attendants and all the other roles within a hospital. 

Hospitals then decided that the only roles they would cover the cost of scrubs for were their surgeons (and some of their physicians as well). 

The cost of the uniform was then placed upon you. 

We couldn’t really understand why the hospitals placed that cost upon you, because of how hard you fight for each patient’s life in the hospital, to give them your all, only for your work uniform costs to no longer be covered by the hospital.

We’ve even witnessed first-hand how hard you work to be there for each patient who is in need, when there is no one else to turn to.

We remember the helplessness.

In that time, my father was scammed a few times when he first moved here and tried to start a business. Then eventually, one day, he was so overwhelmed that he dropped a piece of paper and ran to pick it up on the street. A car almost hit him…

That’s when I knew I needed to step up and help my father run his business. Unlike most businesses started by first-generation immigrants, we refused to sell to private equity and kept the business in the family.

It’s been a blessing to be able to retire him and continue his legacy for decades to come.

For 21 days, my daughter experienced a severe bacteria infection that completely uprooted our entire life. Would she make it through? Were we going to lose someone so precious and dear to our hearts? A child that could have such a bright and prosperous future…

Those 21 painstaking days were some of the most grim moments of our family’s lives; we felt so helpless and as if we were at the hands of fate. Turning to our family or friends brought words of encouragement, yet didn’t ease that helplessness that just overcomes a soul when the fate of a life is out of their hands.

Moments like these are what shape us. Those helpless moments where we are dealing with the health and livelihood of our loved ones. 

There is no one there to turn to; the only ones to rely on are the healthcare workers.

Nurses answer questions wholeheartedly. The front desk provides their support and tranquility. Physician assistants care deeply of what is going on and don't hesitate to express it. Even doctors show empathy and care to the family and loved ones.

Yet, when I took a step back, I realized just how neglected healthcare workers are. 

While they are giving their livelihoods to us...

No one truly cares about them…

They’re pushed to work beyond their limits…

I knew deep in my heart that I needed to give back, but I never knew how. To be there for those who were neglected for so long. 

That’s why when my father started Dagacci Medical Uniforms, making scrubs, lab coats and other healthcare worker essentials, I decided to get involved as well. 

For a relentless 15 years, I did everything in my power to keep the prices the same. We fought for every cent to give the very best price point to our clients, so no one would be overwhelmed to buy scrubs. Why? Because if no one was looking out for the healthcare workers and nurses, then I had to step up and do something.

This was my way of giving back, to give to the nurses and heroes who have dedicated their lives to saving families like mine. To take every step possible. Because even through our darkest times as a society during the pandemic, healthcare workers were still neglected and pushed to their limits…

If I could’ve kept my pricing the same for eternity, I would’ve, because I’ve made every measure possible to ensure that we could deliver the lowest prices possible as my way to give back. 

Unfortunately, 2025 marked the first year in 15 that we had to raise our prices; we just had no choice with the new tariffs that were implemented.
